The Opening Cabaret (Wednesday, March 8th - 8pm) will be hosted by Lucky Eights, and will feature some great acts including The Pussy Willows, Charlie Demurs, Your Little Pony Burlesque, Voco Loco (improvised vocal ensemble), magic, music, art, the second group of Show Off: Theatre Under the Gun Reloaded opening their inspiration packages, as well as drink specials in the Monster Bar and Gallery

Over 11 days, here are a BUNCH of great shows you can see, including:

Show Off: Theatre Under the Gun Reloaded (Theatre Under the Gun is BACK!), Lazy Susan (BIG HIT from the Fringe and past Theatre Under the Gun piece), Micetro Impro (Improv directed by Keith Johnstone himself), a psychadelic listening party for The Flaming Lips' "Zaireeka", and much more....

OUR DETAILS

What: Show Off: Theatre Under the Gun Reloaded is part of the HERE BE MONSTERS: A Carnival of the Arts; a 2-week festival which includes us(Show Off), Lazy Susan(smash hit fringe show and Theatre Under the Gun alumni company), Zaireeka(A Flaming Lips Listening Party), Workshops, Opening and Closing Cabarets, and the Monster Bar and Gallery. Where: Performance Works on Granville Island

When: FOR ENTIRE FESTIVAL: March 7th – 18th

FOR SHOW OFF:
Tuesday, March 7th – 6pm ‘Meet & Greet’ / Companies choose their ‘Inspiration Package’.
Group 1 receives inspiration package at 8pm at Performance Works. Goes away and starts their 48 hours.
Wednesday, March 8th – Group 2 receives inspiration package at 8pm at Performance Works. Goes away and starts their 48 hours.
Thursday, March 9th- Group 1 techs and performs. Group 3 receives inspiration package at 8pm at Performance Works and goes away to create.
Friday, March 10th- Group 2 techs and performs. We party.
Saturday, March 11th– Group 3 techs and performs. We party.

New: Audience Choice Awards. 4 companies will move on to become the Opening Act for the following week’s performances of Lazy Susan (Monday-Thursday’s shows). One company per night, giving 4 companies the opportunity to run their show one more time. You can re-work it, whatever you want, just keep it at 15 minutes
**NOTE: This is not mandatory. If your company can’t be involved the following week, you can still participate in SHOW OFF.

New: $50 application fee. Once confirmed in to Show Off: Theatre Under the Gun Reloaded, we will ask for the $$ to secure your spot.
**Please make cheques payable to: seventeenth floor performance company

Deadline for applications: January 31st, 2006

SHOW OFF – Vancouver’s quick & dirty thesping battleground

So you thought Theatre Under the Gun was dead? Think again!!

Not wanting to let it die – and with the blessings of both Chris McGregor and Trevor Found - Heather Lindsay and France Perras have taken the helm – and are doing a little revamping!!

10 to 12 theatre companies and or groups, ensembles, etc…create 15-minute performances in just 48 hours. They each get a unique inspiration package made up of an image, a prop, a sound bite, and a line of text, all of which must be used in the final performance.

With some new twists, possible extended performances and –
This year: part of “HERE BE MONSTERS: A Carnival of the Arts”
